All about the trip

Ready for an adventure in the Azores? Your holidays in São Miguel start here! During this activity, you will have the opportunity to watch some of the 28 cetacean species that can be found in the Azores. Whales and dolphins are regularly seen during our half-day tours, along with turtles, seabirds and other marine wildlife.

As they are wild animals, each tour is a surprise! We cannot control where they will be or if they will show up during every trip! We guarantee that if you do not see any whale nor dolphin we do give you the chance to reschedule your tour for free. The tour will start in our shop in Ponta Delgada harbor. Before the boat trip, our biologists will give you a briefing to explain which cetacean species can be observed, safety measures aboard, how we respect the animals and rules of observation at sea as well as some historical facts. During the tour, each passenger is required to wear a life vest (except on our catamaran).

The staff onboard will warn you if they see anything in the water and give some explanations and details about the specific species that you will meet. The trip will last about 3 hours before going back to the harbor, where we will welcome you back to our shop with some local tea. Later during the day, our biologists will see and edit the photos that they took in the trip and you will be able to see them later on, on our blog Azores Whales. If we have spectacular pictures, they might also be on our Facebook and Instagram accounts.

Nature offers no guarantee. Sometimes, even though not so often, it happens that you won’t see any cetacean. In that case, we will allow you to book another tour with us for free to try your luck again.

Cancellation more than 10 days prior to the starting date. Clients are automatically refunded the full booking price.
