All about the trip
The Via Ferrata del Tajo de Ronda, nestled in a privileged place, ideal for initiation, easy but very exciting, with stunning views of the Tajo del Ronda, the hanging houses and the New Bridge of the s. XVIII. The Via Ferrata del Tajo de Ronda began to be used by the workers and the Sevillana and peasants of the area at the beginning of the last century to secure the pits with masonry walls, with which to protect the Mills and water ditches in the area . In recent years it has been recycled and adapted for adventure and active tourism.
We will perform two way ferrata, In our approach route of 1 kilometer we will pass through the walls of Albacara s. XIII), the Gate of the Wind, the old town of hydraulic mills and hydroelectric station from the beginning of the 20th century, today completely covered by vegetation. Crossing different viewpoints of the Tajo de Ronda and the surrounding ones. Once finished the via ferratas we will do an itinerary for the historical Round and we will stop by emblematic places like the Palacio de Mondragón, the Collegiate Church of Santa Maria la Mayor, City Hall, the Puerta de Carlos V, the Puerta de Almocabar, Arab Baths, Puerta de Felipe V, Puente Romano and Puente Viejo or the Palace of the Marquis de Salvatierra. We will end the day eating a sweet or cake in a famous confectionery in the area.
The Via Ferratas allow you to experience aerial sensations typical of other sports such as climbing and mountaineering for people without great technical knowledge. A Via Ferrata basically consists of a succession of steps stuck in the rock through which it is climbed in the same way as we would by a ladder. Parallel to the steps runs a steel cable with independent anchors, called a lifeline. The progression system consists of climbing the steps, keeping us at all times secured to the lifeline. For this, a specific tool called a heatsink or zipper is used, which connects our harness with the lifeline.
