All about the trip

The Seljalandsdalur and Hnífsdalur valleys offer stunning vistas of the surrounding landscape. The mountains around Ísafjörður have a unique shape and demonstrate the raw power of the glaciers which carved out the terrain around us.

The route takes us along mountain lakes, crystal clear streams and carpets of fluorescent moss that is quite characteristic for the mountains in the area.

Experience the colorful wildflowers which bloom during the summer months, and look carefully for the elusive golden plovers, although they will definitely be heard before they’re spotted.

Please arrive at the meeting point 30 minutes before departure time.

What to take with you?

Please bring warm outdoor clothing, waterproof jacket and pants, hat and gloves. Avoid cotton as it keeps you cold when wet and takes a very long time to dry. Please wear hiking boots that provide ankle support. Bring your sunhat, sunglasses, and sunscreen, as it can get sunny. Don't forget your water bottle, energy snacks, lunch, and camera.
