All about the trip
Vyšehrad is a magical place, entwined with many legends and legends from the beginnings of Czech history. Do you want to explore this historic place on the rock above the Vltava, which according to legend was founded by Prince Krok? Do you want to know the place where, according to legend, the first Czechs settled? The place where the National Cemetery is located, or the place where Praguers go to relax and enjoy the wonderful view of the Vltava River and its surroundings? If so, join us and learn more about the roots of Czech nationality.
Your tour starts at the Vyšehrad metro station (metro line C). You can recognize the guide by the open blue-and-white umbrella. It will be waiting for you at the exit towards the Congress Center.
The guide will tell you legends and tales from the times of early Czech history. You will get acquainted with the history of bastions and fortifications from the 18th century and you will see one of the oldest rotundas in our country, which was dedicated to St. Martin.
This pleasant walk with beautiful views of the capital will take you to the Basilica of St. Peter and Paul, which you will also visit. The neo-Gothic building of the basilica and its towers dominate Vyšehrad, thus completing the characteristic panorama of Prague. Prague Castle rises on the opposite bank of the Vltava, opposite Vyšehrad. You will look at Prague from a completely different perspective. The walk ends here, but if you want, you can also visit the resting place of many famous personalities - Slavínský hřbitov or Vyšehradské kasematy, where the original statues from Charles Bridge are stored.
