The dam is fed by the River Nile and the reservoir forms Lake Nasser. Construction for the project began in 1960 and was completed in 1971. Aswan High Dam measures 111 m in height, 3,830 m in length, and has a base width of 980 m , Then proceed to visit the Philae Temple, The Temple of Isis ( is one of the greatest Temples in Egypt and it occupies about a quarter of the island. It is the main Temple on the island, with its huge complete pylons and beautiful scenes. After that move to Visit Unfinished Obelisk, One of the most famous stones left behind is the 'Unfinished' Obelisk, taller than any known obelisk ever raised. Quarrymen apparently abandoned the obelisk when fractures appeared in its sides. However, the stone, still attached to bedrock, gives important clues to how the ancients quarried granite. Much of the red granite used for ancient temples and colossi came from quarries in the Aswan area (500 miles south of Cairo). The Unfinished Obelisk still lies where a crack was discovered as it was being hewn from the rock, finish your tour and transfer back to your hotel or Nile Cruise in Aswan.
