Explore the center of the ancient Minoan civilization. The palace of Knossos testifies to this day to its advancement and grandeur. Discover the Monastery of Kera Kardiotissa located in an idyllic landscape and hiding Byzantine icons and other valuable pieces of art. Enjoy a beautiful view of traditional windmills at the Lasithi Plateau. And visit the cave where Zeus – the mythical father of Olympian gods – was born.
We will travel in an air-conditioned bus to the Monastery of Kera Kardiotissa named after a miraculous icon of Virgin Mary and decorated with beautiful murals.
Our journey takes us to the Lasithi Plateau with the picturesque windmills and impressive Venetian drainage system that turned the arid area into a fertile region.
We will visit the traditional village of Psychro where we can watch craftsmen making traditional pottery. And there is also the Dictean Cave – the birthplace of Zeus.
We can enjoy our lunch in one of the authentic taverns in the village of Tzermiado and admire the natural beauty and exquisite landscape around.
And our last stop will be the palace of Knossos. There you can soak in the atmosphere of the rich Minoan culture. You can visit the Throne Room and a stone-built theatre and admire the fascinating murals.
