All about the trip

Join us to visit the stunning rocky cliffs of the Algarve coastline and its most spectacular treasure, The Benagil Cave. On this 2 hour boat cruise, you will get to see unique beaches, crumbling cliffs, golden coastlines, and much more en route to this famous cave.

Our adventure begins at the Marina of Portimão, please arrive 30 minutes before the departure time to ensure that everyone can board safely. Once we set sail, you will see the fort of João do Arade and the fort of St. Catarina from the Arade river; this is a unique perspective from the river to the city of Portimão. You will also see beautiful beaches and other caves along the way as we head from Portimão through Carvoeiro. We then pass Benagil and make our way all the way to the beach of Praia da Marinha, at this beach you can see many golden cliffs and the famous double-arched landbridges out to sea. Cameras should be at the ready here! These golden cliffs descending into the deep blue sea really do look incredible in photos.

Throughout the boat tour, our guide will explain to you all about the caves, the coastline, fauna, flora and the geology of the region.

Once we are inside the Benagil Cave you will see why we've made all this effort to sail out here. Mere words just cannot describe simply how beautiful it is. Its natural ceiling oculus is reminiscent of the Pantheon of Rome, Italy. The way it lets the light shine down through the cave, filling it with light and illuminating its sandy, golden walls; it really is something special.

After enjoying the interior of the cave for some time, we will eventually head back out and prepare to return to the Marina de Portimão. Whilst on the return journey, we will navigate further out to sea and away from the cliffs, thus giving you a bigger perspective of the coastline here and another angle to take some photos from.

Safety Procedures: Please stay seated during the tour. The crew will tell you when embarking and disembarking of the boat can take place. When inside the caves it is forbidden to leave the boat. The use of a life jacket is a legal requirement.
