All about the trip

Snorkeling and horseback riding is a perfect combination for those who want to experience a great outdoor day in Iceland. You’ll enjoy snorkeling in the freshwater fissure Silfra, which is known to be one of the best dive sites in the world, and you will enjoy riding an Icelandic horse known for their great handling.

This is a pure nature trip. You’ll be snorkeling in either wetsuit or drysuit, depending on your preference. By wearing the wetsuit you will be able to dive underneath the surface of Silfra and we recommend this choice rather than the drysuit as you will get more out of the tour. Silfra is a freshwater fissure, about 60-63 meters deep. You can almost see the bottom as the water is so clear. Silfra is situated at the UNESCO World Heritage site, Thingvellir.

The horseback riding will take place at the friendly family run farm Laxnes where you’ll ride on the Icelandic horse which has five gaits. You will enjoy the Icelandic nature at the same time you are getting to know these small friendly horses.

Please make sure that you are comfortable in the water and are able to swim. You should be at least a bit physically fit. Also, you should not have a problem with wearing sometimes tight & constricting dry suit. Make sure that you have read, signed, and followed directions on the Silfra Snorkeling Medical Statement and also signed our liability release form at the start of the tour. You must be at minimum 145 cm (4’9) tall and maximum 200cm (6’7) tall. Your weight should be at minimum 45 kg (99 lbs) and maximum 120 kg (264 lbs). This activity is not suitable for pregnant women. You must be at least 14 years old to participate in this activity.

What to take with you?

We will provide you with all the necessary gear required for snorkeling and horseback riding. You will, however, have to bring clothes suited to dress under a drysuit such as long, warm underwear or sweat suit, and warm socks or clothes suited to dress under a wetsuit such as a swimsuit. Also, please bring warm clothes to wear prior and after the snorkeling and a water resistant outer layer as it can be wet inside the cave. You will also need a towel, some lunch or a snack. We recommend to bring a camera.

Cancellation more than 4 days prior to the starting date. Clients are automatically refunded the full booking price.
