Discover the village of Şirince on a mountain covered with vineyards and peach trees. Stroll its narrow streets where you can admire typical Greek houses or shop for local handicraft and delicious olive oil. Experience daily life in a small village where people still keep traditional art and craft alive.

History of the village dates back to 15th century when freed Greek slaves settled here after the city of Ephesus was abandoned.

There is an old legend saying that the original settlers gave its village the name Çirkince meaning "Ugly" to deter others from following them. Its name was changed to Şirince meaning "Pleasant" in 1926.

Due to a historical fusion of Greek and Turkish culture, local houses have a typical Greek look from the outside but once you enter you find Turkish layout with courtyards inside.

In one of the courtyards there is an orthodox church and several of the houses are open to visitors. You can still see people carpet dying, spinning and weaving here.
