All about the trip

Join us for a nature-filled day in the Samariá National Park on this relaxed 18 km countryside tour. Trek through the gorge, drink fresh mountain water and explore black cliffs along the way.

The tour will begin with a guide picking you up from the specific pick up points or your hotel. During this time the guide will provide all the information about the itinerary for the day. On the drive we will be heading towards Omalos, here you can enjoy a light breakfast before you begin the hike.

During the hike, you will be accompanied by our experienced mountain guide who speaks English, German and Greek. Once you’ve arrived at the Samariá National Park we will make our way into the gorge. We will take the Xylóskalo trailhead, which will surround us with the white mountains and rare flora and fauna; leading this to be a protected site in Crete. We will walk the trail down to the seaside village of Agia Rouméli and pass by the abandoned Samariá village, home to a 14th-century church.

Throughout the hike, there will be fresh water from the mountains to drink and rest stops in between. When we reach the port village of Agia Roumeli we will stop at the Taverna Kri Kri for lunch or swim in the clear waters of the Libyan Sea. The entire hike should take around 6 hours to complete. There are no insurmountable obstacles during this hike which keeps the pace relaxed. For the entirety of the tour, our guide will walk at the back of the group to guarantee pace and safety. Once the tour is over, we will head back to the boat to arrive at the mainland in the evening. Here you will join the tour bus to go back to Chania and the hotel pick-up spots.

Instructions

Please note that entrance to the park is 5€ for adults and free for children under 15.

Please note that the boat ticket is 10€ for adults and 5€ for children 6-11 years old.

Please bring cash, the guide will collect it at the beginning of the tour insuring you skip the lines.

Covid-19 health and safety measures:

Any passenger should not attend the excursions if they have the following symptoms: fever, cough, breathing difficulties, sore throat, loss of taste or smell.

Before entering the bus please use the provided hand sanitizer and keep social distancing. We will also take instantly your temperature which has to be below 37,5 C according to the Department of Health to enter the bus. Any other temperature is not allowed.

Kindly bring your own mask and wear it during the bus ride.

In case you feel unwell during the tour or have any symptoms please contact our staff to help you out.

All our staff have completed the Covid-19 seminar at the University of Crete and have certification of approval.

All our staff are doing regular cleaning and disinfecting on all our buses according to the regulations of the Department of Health. The airconditioning system is also cleaned with products from the well known certified company WURTH.
