All about the trip

We will travel by minibus to Fuente Dé, where the cable car that allows us to go up to Picos de Europa is located. On our way to Fuente Dé, we will cross rivers, forests, small villages, and the famous Hermida gorge.

Once there, you will enjoy some free time to get to know the area or take the cable car up to the upper station if you wish. The cable car ride will last 4 minutes and will take you to a height of 1,823m above sea level. There you can enjoy stunning views and explore the closest surroundings of the upper station! Another option we give you to enjoy this time in Fuente Dé is to enjoy a 1-hour horse trail around.

Later we will go to the Monastery of Santo Toribio, one of the four holy places of Christianity. The importance of this monastery is because it houses the Lignum Crucis, which is the largest piece of wood from the Cross of Jesus that is preserved. Here we will make a short stop for you to visit the Monastery and see the Lignum Crucis. We will also take the opportunity to approach the viewpoint of the hermitage of San Miguel, which is located near the Monastery and from where you can enjoy beautiful views over Picos.

Finally, we will arrive in Potes, the capital of Liébana and considered one of the most beautiful villages in Spain. Highlights of this town are its cobbled streets, its bridges, and its medieval Tower, which is called Torre del Infantado. We will take a short walking tour of the town and then you can have free time to eat and shop if you wish in one of its many souvenir shops.
