All about the trip
Beng Keng Kang Market (BKK Market), is a typical Cambodian market where you can get your hair done, nails painted, have your bike repaired, buy fresh produce, and have a quick bowl of noodles for breakfast! This market truly has it all which makes it a perfect place to explore and people watch.
People will stare, but pushy vendors are almost non-existent here. Onward to Wat Langka, one of the oldest pagodas in Phnom Penh. It was established as a sanctuary for the Holy Writings and a meeting place for Cambodian and Sri Lankan monks. Your final stop is the 68,000-square-metre The Independence Monument in Phnom Penh, capital of Cambodia, was built in 1958 for Cambodia's independence from France in 1953. It stands on the intersection of Norodom Boulevard and Sihanouk Boulevard in the center of the city. Just east of Phnom Penh’s Independence Monument, the memorial to Cambodia’s late king is located on the street bearing his name, Sihanouk Boulevard. Considered by many Khmers as a hero-king and the father of the nation, King Norodom Sihanouk’s first reign was a turbulent one. In the 1950s and 60s, romantically seen as the “golden era” of Cambodia, he led the country into independence from France. After a US-led coup, he was forced into exile, from where he made a deal with the emerging Khmer Rouge.
