All about the trip

We will pick you up at your hotel in Taipei in the morning and go straight to the Golden Waterfall. Although there is no actual gold flowing from these falls, the waterfall is sometimes called the Flowing treasure. It reflects the appearance of the cascades: the combination of regular rainwater in this mining area radiates a gold-like color. We will then go back to the old times and visit nostalgic old streets of Jiufen town. It used to be a typical gold rush town before 1970s. The most memorable part of Jiufen, without a doubt, is the long and narrow street market which stretches throughout the entire town. The street is dotted with various shops selling handicrafts, food, tea, snacks, toys, and traditional souvenirs. Be sure to try some of the local foods, such as sweet taro balls, rice cakes, and grilled squid. You will have enough time for lunch or shopping.

In the afternoon we will continue to Shifen old street with the Pingxi Railway. It was originally built to transport coal, but now it is a perfect chance to experience the life that Pingxi’s miners previously led. And at the end of our tour, you can make a wish, write it on a sky lantern and let it fly. The sky lantern festival that takes place each year around February and March has long been a tradition for locals to pray and wish for a good fortune. During this festival, lanterns cover the entire sky of Pingxi. If you’re an artist, writer, or a photographer, we highly recommend you see this festival for yourself.

We will drive you back to your hotel around 18:00 o'clock.
