All about the trip

The tour takes to the most remote and geographically rugged area on the island of São Miguel. Following the south coast, we will arrive at the picturesque village of Povoação, where we will stop to taste the famous “fofas da povoação” (regional sweets).

Then, our tour continues to the most flowery municipality on the island of São Miguel, the council of the Northeast. We will have the opportunity to glimpse and appreciate the landscapes led by the viewpoints of Ponta do Sossego and Ponta da Madrugada with views over the sea and coast of the town. Then, time to stop and lunch served in the village of Nordeste, in a traditional restaurant.

On the way back to Ponta Delgada, we will admire the old windmills fed with water from Ribeira dos Caldeirões Park, where for decades the cereals of the surrounding parishes were ground.

The tour also includes a visit to the Gorreana Tea factory, one of the few existing in Europe and the oldest on our island with tasting of the different teas produced there. The return to Ponta Delgada is made by the north coast, from where you can admire the way the sea and the winds from the north quadrant shaped the northern slopes.

We recommend you to bring comfortable and closed shoes, comfortable clothing, light jacket, water, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, a pouch for the camera.
