All about the trip

Explore the west of Madeira island. Enjoy the breathtaking view of the ocean from Cabo Girão, the second highest sea cliff in the world. Pass through the deep and narrow valleys of Serra D'Água. And admire volcanic swimming pools of Porto Moniz.

Departing from Lido we first head to Câmara de Lobos where we visit the traditional fishing village.

Now it is time to get ready for a unique sight as we drive to Cabo Girão, the second highest sea cliff in the world and the highest sea cliff in Europe. The view of the ocean far below your feet is breathtaking.

We continue to the city of Ribeira Brava on the southern coast of the island. From there we follow a road through impressive steep valleys of Serra D'Água until we reach Encumeada. There, at the highest point we can see both southern and northern coast of the island.

We cross the island to São Vicente on the northern coast. We enjoy our lunch in Porto Moniz. And we can spend a leisurely hour there to admire the local volcanic swimming pools.

On our way back we traverse Madeira's highest plateau offering amazing panoramic views and Paul da Serra which is one of the biggest natural park reserves of the world.
