All about the trip

Tour the southern coast of Madeira. Visit picturesque villages of Ponta do Sol and Madalena do Mar known for cultivation of sugar cane and bananas. See the lighthouse in Ponta do Pargo, the westernmost point of Madiera island.

From the beautiful village of Ponta do Sol we head westwards along the coast to Madalena do Mar. On the face of the cliffs here there are terraced fields where bananas are being cultivated.

We visit the village of Paúl do Mar and continue to the westernmost point of the island which is Ponta do Pargo. The cliffs here reach the height of 400 m above sea level. We will see the picturesque lighthouse here.

After lunch we arrive to the village of Calheta. There is one of the two man-made beaches in Madeira. The original volcanic dark rocks and sand were replaced by golden sand here.

Our last stop is the sugar cane factory Engenho da Calheta where we can see rum distillery.
