All about the trip

Take a short hike through the beautiful Mimosa Valley. Follow one of Madeira's ancient irrigation channels of Levada dos Maroços. See local terraced fields and watch farmers take care of their land and animals. Some of them may be selling seasonal fruit in a stall along the way.

We explore the valley near the city of Machico which is known as Mimosa Valley. Fragrant shrubs and trees of acacias grow all along the way. The plants are commonly misnamed mimosas and that is where the name of the valley comes from.

The pleasant route is 6 km long. It leads along the aqueduct and small terraced fields. We will have an opportunity to watch daily life of the locals as they work on their farms and admire the amazing scenery.
