All about the trip

Discover magnificent nature of Madeira island on an easy hike. See the vast Valley of Rabaçal with rich vegetation and the beautiful Risco waterfall. Levada das 25 Fontes offers an amazing sight of 25 natural springs cascading into a small lake.

Our trip begins with an exploration of Valley of Rabaçal. We descend from Paul da Serra which is the largest plateau of Madeira with the altitude of 1500 m.

We continue our walk until we reach the majestic Risco waterfall. It is 100 m high and consists of many water streams coming down the mountainside. At the foot of Risco waterfall there is a natural pool.

From there we head towards Levada das 25 Fontes. We arrive at the bottom of a cliff where we can watch 25 natural springs cascading into a small lake.

On our way back we pass through a tunnel that carries water to the south side of the island.
