All about the trip

On this lovely adventure, you will enjoy Icelandic horses, excellent riding paths, and breathtaking scenery. The Icelandic horse is known for its gentle, friendly disposition; much like the people. The horse is a pleasure to ride on from novice to expert. The riding duration is about 1.5 to 2 hours accompanied by a guide for safety and comfort. The journey will take you through rugged lava fields surrounding Mount Helgafell volcano known for its lush greenery. You will also see the rolling hillsides of the Bláfjöll mountains towering over the horizon. If you love scenery and horses, this is not a tour to miss!

Due to safety reasons, no pregnant women are allowed on this tour.
Please note that the weight limit is 110kg or 240lbs, the Icelandic horse is small but mighty!

Instructions

Please note that it is not allowed to ride with bags or backpacks whilst on the horse. Íshestar provides complimentary safety boxes at the stables for your valuables.

If you plan to bring your own gear, please heed the advice below:

Riding gear (riding boots, riding trousers, jackets, hats, gloves, etc.) needs to be washed (40°C), dry cleaned or disinfected before arriving in Iceland. Used leather gear may not be brought into the country.
