All about the trip
This is a great tour for the traveler who wants a mix of temple sightseeing and local life. Temple highlights include visits to Banteay Samre and Banteay Srei, one of Angkor Archaeological Park’s most beautiful temples built recognized for its elaborate carvings. After a local lunch explore Tonle Sap Lake and local life at a traditional fishing village before winding down at Siem Reap’s Old Market back in town.
Your day of past and present begins with an 8:30 am pick up at your hotel. The first half of the day explores two highlight temples, Banteay Samre, and Banteay Srei. Banteay Samre built under Suryavarman II and Yasovarman II in the early 12th century, it is a Hindu temple in the Angkor Wat style. We follow Banteay Samre with Banteay Srei, one of Angkor’s most beautiful temples. Built largely of red sandstone, this gem of a temple boasts a pink color and some of the most exquisite depictions. When it’s time for a temple break, enjoy a traditional Khmer lunch Khmer wooden house before setting off for the rural countryside. The afternoon is spent at Tonle Sap Lake to discover different aspects of life in a floating village. See fish farms, traditional medicine shops, floating schools, crocodile farms, and local shops.
We explore by boat so you can feel what it’s like to be a part of the community. On the way back to your accommodation, we head to the Old Market, Phsar Chas, the oldest Khmer market in Siem Reap. Explore the souvenirs, see locals purchasing goods and try you hand at bargaining to bring something back home! At the end of the day, you’re transferred back to your hotel.
