Discover the masterpieces of Byzantine arts and architecture and visit the major Istanbul sights from the era of the Byzantine Empire. See the Hippodrome of Constantinople once the social center of the empire. Admire the majestic Hagia Sophia, the breathtaking Basilica Cistern and the Chora Church decorated with magnificent mosaic.

Our tour starts at the Hippodrome of Constantinople or the Byzantine Hippodrome. The structure served as the social, cultural and sports center of the Byzantine capital in its glory days. And we can still see its original fragments including the Walled Obelisk and the Serpent Column.

After the stroll on the Hippodrome, we visit the most important Byzantine building in the world and that is Hagia Sophia. The former Greek Orthodox Christian cathedral and later an Ottoman imperial mosque is now a museum.

The Basilica Cistern is the largest ancient cistern in Istanbul. To see the columns of the underground cathedral-sized cistern reflected in the water is a mysterious experience.

We refresh ourselves and enjoy a delicious lunch in a local restaurant before we take a short drive to the Chora Church. Now a museum, the interior of the building is covered with the most exquisite mosaics and frescoes.
