All about the trip

Discover Cappadocia on a full-day hike in Ihlara Canyon. Admire the diverse plant species and natural beauty of the valley. Visit UNESCO World Heritage Site of Kaymakli Underground City with an elaborate system of caverns reaching several floors below the ground.

We will pick you up from your hotel in Cappadocia region. The underground city is our first stop. We explore the ancient settlement which served early Christians as an effective defence from prosecution. There are many connected caves, storage rooms, stables and a church there.

Ihlara Valley is an oasis in the middle of Cappadocia. Hundreds of plant species flourish on both sides of the river running through the middle of the canyon.

We enjoy our lunch in a local restaurant in the small town of Belisırma.

You will see vineyards and pistachio trees along the way. There is a rich wildlife with lizards, frogs, butterflies and birds. If you are lucky you may see an eagle flying up in the sky. We can refresh our feet in a cold river.

A long history of Cappadocia with its ancient culture is present here as well. There are many cave churches decorated with colorful frescoes.

After this 18 km hike which will fill our bodies with a good feeling of completing this trail and our eyes with a new experience, we will drive you back to your hotel.

What to take with you?

Please wear comfortable clothes and walking shoes. We recommend to wear shorts, not a skirt that may be inconvenient for the countryside tour. Bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and a camera. In spring and autumn please bring a light jacket or raincoat with you.
