All about the trip

We will leave at 9:00 towards Santoña where Buciero Mountain is located. This is a rocky massive that juts into the sea. On our way to Santoña by minivan, we will go through the Natural Park of the marshes of Santoña, Victoria, and Joyel. This is one of the greatest spots of biological diversity in Spain, so spectacular views are guaranteed! We will also cross the promenade of Santoña.

Our hike to Buciero mountain starts right there. This mountain is a spectacular place because of its ecosystem, cliffs and patrimonial items of high value. It is one of the most beautiful places of the Cantabrian coast and also the refuge of many of the birds that pass through the marshes and use it as a place of rearing. The Buciero mountain has three summits, all with a height of more than 300 meters. From all of them, we will be able to admire the most exceptional panoramic views over the city of Santoña, the beach of Berria and the estuary of the river Asón.

The path is a little demanding as to reach the Lighthouse of the Horse we will have to climb half an hour on a path of jagged rocks and then go down and latter up some stairs of 760 steps! During the excursion, we will make several stops to enjoy the place. Our longer stop to eat some snack will be in the Lighthouse of the Horse. After the break, we continue toward the Lighthouse of the Fisherman. Up from this point, we will be able to see the beach of Berria, the marshes and the criminal court of El Dueso.

After this hiking experience, we will take a short break in Playa Berria before heading back towards Santander by car.
