All about the trip
Join us for this unforgettable day of cycling and hiking in rural Dalat!
Our day begins at 8:30 in the morning with collection from your hotel in Dalat, we will then make our way to the Van Thanh flower village where our hike will begin. From here we’ll walk through 10 km of dense jungle eventually ascending into beautiful evergreen pine forests. Cameras should be at the ready along the way because sometimes you will see wild animals roaming around for food here. There's also a picturesque valley view off in the distance.
After we ascend higher we'll reach the terraced rice fields where you can shoot classic postcard-style photos of the green rice paddy fields. The rice fields are terraced, just like steps, up and down the valley; the same way that they've been for centuries. From here we will then descend further down towards some coffee farms and fruit farms. If you're running out of energy then maybe a Luwak coffee will perk you up? Now's the time to get one, as we will visit these farms to enjoy a break and soak up some culture.
Next, after the farms, it's up to the top of the famous 'Ta Nung Pass'. This is one of the most beautiful spots for photos in Dalat, from here you can see the fantastic views of Ta Nung Village and Nam Ban town down below. There's also some incredible views of the Lang Bian Mountain off into the distance. This whole area has such a mystical feeling to it!
When we reach the bottom we'll be in Ta Nung village, from here we'll jump onto our MTB bikes (pre-prepared by our driver) and begin riding towards the 'Elephant Waterfall'.
With easy rolling hills for 20 km, we'll then arrive at the Elephant Waterfall where we'll take a break for lunch and enjoy a picnic. Our normal lunch consists of fresh veggies, fruits, baguettes with an assortment of toppings and some French-style pastries. It's usually enough to satisfy hungry hikers and cyclists! But hey, it's also worth noting that Dalat is well-known as the 'vegetable garden' of Vietnam and we take pride in creating your lunch from the locally sourced produce of Dalat. So, bon appétit ladies and gentlemen.
After lunch, your guide will take you for a walk down to the Elephant waterfalls. These waterfalls are the highest in all of Lam Dong province. So impressive! When you stand underneath the only thing that compares is the roaring of thunder (so hey, bring your swimwear and a towel to enjoy this part of the route properly).
After enjoying the waterfall we'll make our way to the Linh An pagoda followed by a giant Buddha statue. More interesting photo opportunities indeed.
On the way back to Dalat city, we will visit the silk weaving factory as this is an interesting place to see, you get to see the entire process, from cocoon to fabric. It's pretty cool...and you get to have a rest of sorts after all that hiking and biking.
Before we head home, we'll visit both the rice wine distillery and the cricket farm. Organic rice wine and deep-fried crickets, it's a local delicacy for sure. We know what you're thinking, but honestly, you're gonna chow these like you haven't eaten for a week...because after a day's worth of cycling and hiking you're gonna be hungry! Now's the best time to take photos of your friends, eating crickets; what a sight! After the whole adventure is complete we'll drive you back to your hotel in Dalat. What a day!
