All about the trip
A private tour is sure to enhance your experience of Angkor Archeological Park, indisputably Cambodia’s most popular attraction. During this personalized experience, you’ll benefit from lesser-known historical and cultural commentary from a guide and get an intimate glimpse into parts of the site that large tour groups don’t usually have access to.
Embark on a journey through the history of Angkor. First stop is the South Gate with its huge statues depicting the churning of the ocean of milk. We visit the ancient capital of Angkor Thom built in the late 12th century. Onwards we head to Bayon temple which is unique for its 54 towers decorated with over 200 smiling faces of Avalokitesvara. Exploring the many faces as you explore the winding stairwells of the famed temple. We visit Baphuon, a Khmer temple converted into Buddhist temple in the 15th century. Its platform is like an artificial mountain that recently re-opened after years of restoration.
Following this, we visit the Royal Enclosure, the Elephants Terrace whose trunked elephants line the outer walls and the Terrace of the Leper King with its intricate carvings. The day ends at one of Angkor’s most popular temples, Ta Prohm. The modern name of this Angkorian temple built in the late 12th to early 13th centuries, Ta Prohm was most notably made famous for being the location where they filmed the Tomb Raider movie. Take time to explore the tree-covered ruins deep in the jungle before returning to Siem Reap town.
