Northeast of Angkor, Kbal Spean – meaning ‘River of a Thousand Lingas,’ is a carved riverbed set within the dense forest. Learn about the history and what is known about this far-flung archaeological site, which was discovered in 1969.
We continue to visit celebrated Banteay Srei. Consider by many to be the jewel in the crown of Angkorian art, it is one of the most beautiful temples, constructed in 967 AD by Jayavarman V. Your guide will introduce you to the history of this 10th-century Cambodian temple dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. Lunch at local restaurant Then head south to Banteay Samre, a large, low-sitting temple similar in style to Angkor Wat.
