All about the trip

If you don’t have much time in Luang Namtha but still want to experience as much authentic beauty of Laos as possible, this tour is for you.

During this full-day rainforest hike, you get acquainted with the rainforest of Nam Ha National Protected Area, and you also have the chance to explore some areas where natives use as rice fields. This journey is full of spectacular scenery, with mountains, majestic trees, and animals that can be seen along the way. On top of that, the trip also includes a delicious picnic made with ingredients picked in the forest.

The adventure begins with your driver taking you southward to Ban Chaleunsouk, the ecotourism village where the hiking session starts. Here you meet your village guide who used to be a hunter in the area. He is going to be with you throughout your hiking. This is a moderate-level activity, but some trails can be muddy and slippery in the rainy season. The length of the trip is about 5-6 hours and we will hike through the rainforest under a shade of the trees. Along the way, you can hear or even see native animals.

When it is about noon, we stop to have our lunch prepared by your local guide. While he does his magic, he also shares his knowledge with you. Fell free to ask anything that interests you regarding the local nature, culture, etc.

After lunch, we cross some streams and walk alongside the Nam Ha River before climbing a mountain, where there are breathtaking views of this protected area. After that, we go down to a village located on the riverbank where our car waits for us. But before heading back to our headquarters, we still visit more villages to know the local culture better.

While you share memories of the fantastic day, we drive through the village of Ban Phieng Ngam where locals weave textiles.

Don’t forget to bring a rucksack, walking shoes, hat, sun cream, mosquito spray, extra clothes and shoes that can get wet, warm clothes, pocket money, raincoat, toilet paper or tissues.
