All about the trip

Covering an area of 1,190 km2 with a basal circumference of 140 km, Etna is the highest active volcano in Europe outside the Caucasus, and it is a UNESCO World Heritage. This tour is your chance to discover the less touristic places and the fascinating views of the volcano.

Your adventure begins at Piazza Sant'Alfio, where you meet your friendly and knowledgeable guide. He leads you through trails of moderate difficulty. You can choose the route that fits you the best regarding expectation and physical condition. Usually, we recommend going first to Valle del Bove, with a descent on the lava of 1992 eruption, and return via Val Calanna; or you can head to Grotta del Lamponi or Grotta del Gelo glacier. You will also visit a lava tube which is an incredible experience for all outdoor enthusiasts.

Whichever way you choose, you can explore the area and perceive the volcanic landscape with all your senses: you smell the woods and endemic plants; you see dramatic views; you can even hear the “voice” of the volcano.

This full-day tour will take you to the most interesting places of Etna and make this a day to remember.

What to take with you?

Don’t forget to bring your hiking shoes (also available for hiring), windbreaker jacket or sweatshirt, water, and camera.
You can rent shoes (3€), windbreaker jacket (2€), and hiking sticks (2€) from us.

We can also arrange a transfer from hotels in Catania and villages nearby Etna, from Taormina or other places outside the province.
