All about the trip
Calling all foodies! Stroll the streets near St. Stephen’s Basilica and enjoy a tasting tour of some of Hungary’s most delicious delicacies. With our knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide, you will experience Budapest the way locals do. Eat your way through the day and learn about the unique culture of Hungary.
Our guide will begin by meeting you right outside of St. Stephens Basilica. You will then make your way down the promenade to the Hold Street Market Hall. The hall itself dates to 1891 and is still used for its original use. Today you will find over 180 stalls filled with local produce, fish, bread, spices and much more! We will first start with savory items such as cheese; make sure to try Pannónia known as “Hungarian emmetal.” The best way to enjoy cheese is to pair it with traditional Hungarian wine! Our next stop will be a wine bar with a large selection of local wines. Your guide will help you select some of the best traditional pairings. After savory food, we must indulge our sweet tooth with strudel. We will sit and watch professionals make strudel right before our eyes. Tasting fresh baked goodies is a true delight in the market.
After we’ve finished our eating tour, we will walk around the Basilica’s neighborhood rife with Austro-Hungary influence. The architecture here shows the elegance and charm of bygone empire that still leaves an impression today. We will journey into the Basilica names after the first King of Hungary. And then we will finish up in Liberty square, home to Hungary’s revolutionary history.
Join us and let us show you Hungarian hospitality! You will take pleasure and knowing you are experiencing a real look into Budapest’s incredible history.
