All about the trip
Come and visit the DMZ in South Korea. A place shrouded in complex history, somber atmosphere, and memorials honoring those who have fallen. On this tour, you will learn about the intricacies that are often overlooked when discussing the DMZ. Join us and lets us show you a respectful way to honor the past.
On this tour, you will have a private vehicle, along with a licensed, professional English-speaking tour guide. With your guide, you will venture to the DMZ and North Seoul observatory tower. To begin, our guide will pick you up from your hotel in Seoul and make your way to the DMZ; your private guide will accompany you throughout the trip and help whenever needed.
After the Korean war (1950-1953), South Korea and North Korea established a border that cut the country in half. The Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) is one of the last relics of the Cold War and stretches 250 kilometers long and 4 kilometers wide. You will visit the Imijingak Park, filled with Korean War memorials honoring the fallen. As you walk through the park you will come across the somber Mangbaeddan Memorial; dedicated to people who have been displaced from their hometowns in North Korea. This memorial is special for those who have been separated from their families during the Korean War. This park is also where the “Freedom Bridge, Third Infiltration Tunnel, and the DMZ Theatre reside. The Dora Observatory is the stop that allows you to see a full scenic view across the DMZ. You will visit all of these sights on the tour accompanied by a guide and information provided throughout the walk.
Visitors will be able to see the North Korean territory while at the top of the observatory. After the viewing, the tour ends on a hopeful note at the Dorasan Station and Unification Village. The station once connected North and South Korea, however, it is mostly symbolic for the hope of Korean reunification. The Unification Village is home to many North Korean defectors looking for a peaceful life. The village is symbolic of the sanguine expectations that Korea will once again be united.
After a day of sightseeing at the DMZ, it will be time for lunch, there will be plenty of options at the Paju Premium Outlet. We will stop here in between our time to The War Memorial Hall. The last memorial is dedicated to the Korean War, home to 33,000 artifacts with 10,00 on display for visitors to see. After a day of learning, you will be taken back to your hotel in Seoul.
This is truly a day filled with history that offers you a real perspective on the tensions between North and South Korea.
Join us for an important tour, highlighting the complex history of Korea and the hope for reunification.
