All about the trip

The shallow blue waters of the Kalivaki beach provide the perfect location for learning how to scuba dive. Located in Georgioupolis, a 25 minute drive from Rethymno town, Kalivaki beach is rated as one of Crete’s top beaches on Tripadvisor. We chose this bay for our second dive base, quite simply because it provides the perfect conditions for beginner divers. It is famous for its sandy shores, amazing underwater visibility, interesting rock formations and magical marine life.

We start the day with our pick-up service from your hotel at around 8:30 in the morning. Once we arrive at our dive base in Georgioupoli, you will be welcomed with coffee and beverages. The course begins with a short briefing covering basic diving skills and the safety guidelines needed before going into the sea. After completing the theoretical part of the course, we will then prepare your scuba gear ready for an underwater adventure. Once you feel comfortable with your scuba gear on, we begin the dive out from the shoreline and into the ocean where the maximum depth is 6 meters.

We aim to spend approximately 45 minutes underwater enjoying the beautiful scenery and calm silence under the sea. Some of the marine life you are likely to see in Kalivaki bay could include Juvenile Groupers, Octopuses, Rainbow Wrasses, Flounder Fishes, Starfish, Sea Basses, Seahorses and many more colourful creatures.

We always aim to deliver professional standards of diver training with service, safety and a clear explanation of how the scuba equipment works. You will also learn basic scuba skills and underwater communication signals. Basic swimming skills are required. Please note that you should also be fit and have no medical issues.
