All about the trip

Discover the beauty of the ancient art and architecture in one of the best preserved temple complexes in Egypt. Unlike Luxor, the temple dedicated to the goddess Hathor is situated in peaceful and green surroundings. It displays stunning carvings of ceremonial scenes made in color.

We will pick you up in your Hurghada hotel before breakfast. So make sure to ask your hotel reception a day before to make a breakfast box for you. An air-conditioned vehicle will take you 60 km from Luxor to the site.

The celebrations of the godly union of Hathor with the sun took place here every New Year. The ritual was performed on the roof of the temple. The premises of the complex also served as a university and an alchemists' laboratory.

You can admire the huge carvings of Cleopatra together with her son making an offering to Hathor or the 12 signs of zodiac whose replica is displayed in Louvre in Paris today.

You will see the sacred lake where priests made their ablutions, underground ceremonial crypts and a 5th-century Christian basilica.

On the way back from the temple we will see the famous Qena mosque where many pilgrims come to celebrate the birthday of its founder.

Instructions
