The city was built around natural hot springs, and its ruins can be found next to the present-day city of Pamukkale. It has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, owing to its rich history and cultural significance.

The hot springs in Hierapolis have been utilized as a spa since the 2nd century B.C., attracting visitors seeking relief from various ailments.
