All about the trip
Join us for an unforgettable experience at Ganghwa Island, known locally as "Ganghwado".
The Ganghwa Island is located close to North Korea and has historically been known as an ancient battlefield where Koreans fought for centuries against foreign invaders. Due to its geographical features and location close to the main island, the island has served as a temporary capital when foreign enemies invaded the nation during the Goryeo and Chosun Dynasty.
Now in the present day, Ganghwa is the fourth largest island in South Korea and is located in the estuary of the Han River. The island now is an important location for travellers wishing to learn more about Korea's fascinating history.
Our tour begins to Ganghwa Island begins with collecting you from your hotel at 9:00 in the morning.
Admire the sea views as we head over the bridge from the mainland to Ganghwa, our first stop being the Ganghwa Historic Museum. Here you will be treated to a fascinating display of many relics from Korean history. The exhibitions themselves range from the prehistoric age to Korea in the early 20th century. Your guide will explain to you more of the history as we wander around the exhibits.
Next, we will visit the Ganghwa Dolmen Stone, one of the island's most iconic structures.
Following visiting the Dolmen Stone and the Museum, we will visit the Goryeo Royal Palace site next. This site also leads to the famous cherry blossom tree paths on the northern hill. Many people come to see the cherry blossoms in Spring. The trees make for some awesome photographs when they are in bloom.
Next on our tour will be The Jeondeung Temple, a representative temple of Ganghwa Island's style. The beautifully decorated temple was established in the 13th century under the reign of King Chungryul of the Goryo Dynasty.
Finally, there will be a visit to the Gwangseongbo ancient military fortress.
There will also be a visit to a shopping center, followed by returning you to your hotel.
