All about the trip

Jiufen (also known as Jioufen or Chiufen), once a prosperous gold rush town, straddles the Pacific Ocean and is strategically situated up in the hills. Today, with its picturesque stone walls, narrow cobblestone streets and tea houses, the ancient city has become an inspirational mecca for artists, writers, and movie directors like Hou Hsiao-hsien (A City of Sadness) and Hayao Miyazaki (Spirited Away).

In the morning we will visit Yehliu National GeoPark and you can enjoy some of the most amazing views you have ever seen. Yehliu lies in one of the most remarkable geological coastal areas in northern Taiwan and is well-known for its rocky promontory overlooking the bay. Winds and waves shape the environment and make the scenic view magnificent.

After that, we will have a lunch break to rest and then continue to the Golden waterfall which is stunning! Later afternoon we will visit Jiufen and its nostalgic old streets. Our last stop will be Sheng Ping theater house, the first movie theater in Northern Taiwan, which was completely rebuilt to present the former luxurious culture of Jiufen.
