All about the trip

The island of Gramvousa is surrounded by tranquil blue waters and mountainous terrain off the coast of Crete. Rich in history and stunning nature this is the perfect excursion for those looking at a city break. Join the cruise for a day in paradise!

The tour will begin with a guide picking you up from the specific pick up points or your hotel. During this time the guide will provide all the information pertaining to the itinerary for the day. On the drive, we will be heading towards the west side of Crete to reach the port of Kissamos Kasteli. At the port, the ferry towards Gramvousa awaits; the journey is approximately 45 minutes. Onboard there are a variety of meals and snacks you can enjoy for purchase as you cruise along the tranquil blue water. During the ride, the ferry provides recordings in different languages in order to listen to the history of the island before disembarking.

After arriving in Gramvousa you have 2.5 hours of free time to enjoy at your leisure. We recommend swimming around the island or taking a hike to the Venetian fortress built in the 16th century. The tumultuous history of this island deals with pirates and wars of independence who coveted the strategic terrain. The next stop on the tour will be the Lagoon of Balos, once here you will have 3 hours to explore. “Balos” means “frying pan” in Greek and the islet is known for its scorching temperatures. Swim through the warm blue water and float on the gentle waves. However, if you prefer to sightsee you can walk around the lagoon and see the ruins of the ancient Roman temple of the god Apollo. We recommend trying a combination of both activities to enjoy all that Gramvousa has to offer!

As we end our lovely day you will once again join the ferry to take you back to the mainland of Crete. The sun will begin to set giving a gorgeous contrast of the cerulean waves against a golden sunset, the perfect time for a photo op!

Instructions

Please note that ferry tickets are not included in the total price and will be paid for at the beginning of the tour.

The ferry tickets to Gramvousa are 20€ per person for adults and 10€ for children up to 12 years old. Please bring cash, the guide will collect it at the beginning of the tour insuring you skip the lines. The total price for one adult including all tickets will be 42 €.

Covid-19 health and safety measures:

Any passenger should not attend the excursions if they have the following symptoms: fever, cough, breathing difficulties, sore throat, loss of taste or smell.

Before entering the bus please use the provided hand sanitizer and keep social distancing. We will also take instantly your temperature which has to be below 37,5 C according to the Department of Health to enter the bus. Any other temperature is not allowed.

Kindly bring your own mask and wear it during the bus ride and inside the closed areas of the boat.

Each passenger will need to fill in a declaration of health form that will be provided by us inside the bus.

All our staff have completed the Covid-19 seminar at the University of Crete and have certification of approval.

All our staff are doing regular cleaning and disinfecting on all our buses according to the regulations of the Department of Health. The airconditioning system is also cleaned with products from the well known certified company WURTH.
