All about the trip
Leave at 10:00 from our Yannawa office and make your first stop at a typical Thai temple. Learn about the Chinese influence over the temple and Buddhism in general. Take a leisurely walk through one of the poorest neighborhoods of Bangkok. The people you meet here do not live by our Western standards, but their friendliness and generosity will melt your heart. The real Thai way of living cannot be seen from a boat but only as you walk alongside these people.
Continue with a short longtail boat ride across the Chao Phraya River. On the other side, you can look forward to lush vegetation and a jungle of banana, mango, papaya and coconut trees. This is a real treat for nature lovers.
Arrive at a superbly designed park, relax for a moment and feed hundreds of fish in the pond. This spot also attracts the park’s largest inhabitants, monitor lizards, so keep your eyes open.
Continue your journey, this time with a "samlor" (Thai rickshaw or "bicycle taxi") through the greenest part of Bangkok. Make a stop at another temple, the oldest one in the area, before having lunch in a riverside restaurant. Enjoy delicious Thai cuisine overlooking the majestic River of Kings with gentle breeze in your hair.
From the restaurant, it is only a short rickshaw ride to the pier where a public boat brings you back to the familiar concrete side of busy Bangkok.
Note: On Saturdays and Sundays, the samlors make an extra stop at an authentic Thai market along the canal.
