All about the trip
Gather at the Grasshopper Shop and join us for an exciting tour!
Meet at the Grasshopper Adventures Shop near MRT Sam Yot Station at 5:30 pm. The night tour will depart at 6 pm sharp, so make sure you allow plenty of time to get here, accounting for peak hour traffic. After a quick bike fitting and briefing, it's time to hit the bikes. We’ll avoid main roads by pedaling our way through small laneways, past ancient temples and canals to see the heart and soul of Bangkok.
Cycle and ferry to Wat Arun: After passing through Thammasat University, we cross the Chao Phraya River by ferry. Crossing the river around sunset provides quite lovely views. Once across, we cycle quiet back roads to Wat Arun, the Temple of the Dawn. At night, Wat Arun is spectacularly illuminated and free of the throngs of day tourists so you can enjoy the serene ambiance of the temple.
Visit the Flower Market: The next unforgettable stop is the world-famous Bangkok flower market, the largest wholesale flower market in Thailand. After crossing the Chao Phraya bridge, we stop at the flower market which is at its busiest this time of night and an exciting show of color and activity. On the walkthrough, your guide will treat you to some of Thailand’s famous street food.
Wat Pho: Next on the route is Wat Pho, the renowned Temple of the Reclining Buddha. While the reclining Buddha is not visible to visitors in the evening, the temple grounds are truly magical, with beautifully illuminated chedi spires covered in porcelain mosaics. Explore the peaceful temple grounds in the cool evening air - a vastly different scene from the noisy crowds found here during the day, almost like having a privileged private tour.
Return to the Grasshopper Shop: Biking on past the Grand Palace, we find ourselves in Sanam Luang from which we can see the sparkling chedis of the palace. We pedal through the back streets of Bangkok’s historic old city to finish the evening’s bike tour back at our shop near MRT Sam Yot Station.
The night bike tour usually takes 3-4 hours but is variable by group. Dinner is not included in the night tour but we do include some fun and tasty street food snacks in the flower market.
