All about the trip

Located in the nature reserve of the Malabotta forest, this site is famous for the presence of large blocks of limestone with the most bizarre shapes and meanings such as an eagle, lion, praying goddess, and many more. According to professor Gaetano Pantano, the Argimusco would represent a kind of astronomical calendar that would suggest the presence of primitive settlements in the area. This is only a hypothetical interpretation and each visitor can come up with their own theory.

Start your trip from Messina and after 1 hour and 40 minutes reach Montalbano. Take a short break in a local cheese factory and taste the popular “provola di Montalbano.” Continue the tour towards Agrimusco, located 6km away from the village center, and begin the trek among the megaliths admiring the beauty of the surrounding nature and Mount Etna. For almost two hours you can discover the mystery of this unique area. Then move towards the castle of Montalbano Elicona and take a stroll in its medieval streets. Freshen yourself up tasting local products and homemade wine in a local restaurant. Finish your experience with a short stop at Messina's panoramic viewpoint and enjoy the stunning views it has to offer.
